Experience replaces the experience point system in the World of Darkness Rulebook.

Instead of the Storyteller arbitrarily giving out experience points based on danger, wisdom, roleplaying, etc the Storyteller grants Beats based not on their opinion but on what a character actually accomplishes in game.

Characters are granted Beats by fulfilling Aspirations, resolving Conditions, taking dramatic failures and a couple of other things. For more information about how Beats are granted check out the Beats wiki page.

Experience Costs

The old experience point cost of Merits, Attributes and Skill has been replaced by the following Experience costs. This does not change the dot system or character creation.

Merit: 1 Experience per dot
Skill: 2 Experiences per dot
Skill Specialty: 1 Experience
Attribute: 4 Experiences per dot
Integrity: 3 Experiences per dot
Willpower: 1 Experiences per dot
